About The Lester Prize

Formerly known as the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture, The Lester Prize is one of Australia’s most prestigious portraiture competitions. The Youth Awards celebrate the next generation of creative minds across Australia, giving young artists the chance to showcase their unique perspectives on a national stage alongside Australia's top portraitists. Out of hundreds of entries nationwide, only 30 student finalists were selected across Australia for the Youth Awards.

The Story Behind the Artwork

In "Victor with his bun", Emma uses vibrant soft pastels on paper to capture a warm, playful, and wonderfully expressive snapshot of daily life.

Please join us in giving a huge congratulations to Emma for this monumental artistic milestone!
