3 Students Selected for Snake of the Year 2025, Sydney Lunar Festival 2025

The City of Sydney’s Lunar New Year Zodiac Painting Competition returned in 2025 to celebrate the Year of the Snake, bringing together young artists from across the community to share their creativity through art.

3 Welight students were selected as part of this year’s sydney lunar festival 2025, each featuring own unique concepts — from noodley snakes to snakes holding firecrackers and dumpling-inspired snakes.

Selected artworks were displayed during the Lunar New Year celebrations in prominent public spaces including Town Hall and Haymarket, allowing visitors across the city to experience and enjoy the students’ work.

We’re incredibly proud of the students who were selected, and equally proud of every Welight student who participated.
