Two Students Selected as Finalists in The Young Paddo Art Prize

We are thrilled to announce that two of our talented young artists, Isla and Eden, have been selected as national finalists in The Young Paddo Art Prize!

About The Young Paddo Art Prize

An extension of the prestigious $30,000 Paddington Art Prize, The Young Paddo Art Prize is a national competition celebrating young Australian landscape artists aged 5–18. Each student created an original A4 artwork inspired by the beauty and unique spirit of the Australian landscape.

Selection as a finalist gives these emerging young creatives a fantastic opportunity for national recognition alongside Australia's top talent!

Eden Xu - The Afternoon Glaze, 2026

Artwork Statement:

My artwork depicts Hornsby park during the afternoon. In the center of my artwork is my brother standing on a man-made path, bathing in the sunlight, staring at the sun. Surrounding him are leaves of different shades of green. The sun in my artwork is tucked away behind the leaves, yet its rays are still able to come through, enchanting the forest.

Isla Lu - Tree, Mountains and Lake, 2026

Artwork Statement:

In this drawing, I drew a park's lake surrounded by mountains. I like piling up thick paint to show trees, hills, water, and open spaces. Through my drawings, I want to capture the feeling of being outside and exploring the natural world.

Their artworks were selected to be exhibited alongside fellow national finalists at Council House in Woollahra, NSW.
